Driven Wright out of New York?:Part 1

A source close to the Mets says that the Mets will probably finish this year with Jose Reyes and David Wright. That's the good news. The Bad news is that the Mets, in order to re-sign Mr. Electric, might have to trade slugger and norfolk-native David Wright at the end of the year. Jose Reyes will probably be the most coveted player before the trade deadline, which is July 31. Reyes as established himself that way this year, as he is leading the N.L in hits, stolen bases, and multi-hit games. David Wright has been hurt with a stress fracture in his back the last 2 weeks. Both have played in New York Mets uniforms their whole career. But the source says that the Mets will probably keep both of them except if they get a good deal for Reyes before the Trade Deadline. I would LOVE to see both of these guys back in Mets uniforms next year because they are the heart (Wright) and soul (Reyes) of this team. I will set up a poll and you guys give me your opinions. But the question still remains: Will David Wright be Driven Wright out of New York? Also the source said that Sandy Alderson could trade Carlos Beltran and Francisco Rodriguez (K-Rod), if it means keeping Reyes long-term

Geelicious and Turning it Up

Dillion Gee Monday night tied a Mets rookie record, going 5-0 to start the season. Gee threw a gem against the Pittsburgh Pirates, who still haven't won a game at Citi Field. Gee also threw a career high 8 strikeouts. But after giving up a 2-run bomb to Chris Snyder in the 2nd on a hanging slider, the Mets Rookie didnt throw one more. Gee has gone back and forth fromn the rotation to the bullpen this whole year, But in His 5 starts, he has gone past the 5-inning mark. Another surprise rookie for the Mets this year has been Justin Turner. Turner has gone streaks of RBI games, 7 games (Mets Rookie record) and 6 once. He has really helped with the concern at second base and with David Wright out of the lineup, he has been tremendous at 3rd base. In other news, Angel Pagan will be in the leadoff spot Tuesday night.

Reyes on Bereavement list

Jose Reyes will be gone for 3 to 7 games as he found out on Monday that his paternal grandmother died in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He is now on the Bereavement list. Ruben Tejada will take his Place at ShortStop. The Mets are also letting Jason Bay have a day of Monday. To take his place on the roster, The mets activated pitcher/ setup man Bobby Parnell off the disabled list.

Mr. Electric

Jose Reyes has become a superhero. He has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets in 2011. Reyes, who has been the topic of many trade rumors lately and set to be a free agent after this year. But Jose has been raising his trade and/or free agent stock almost everyday. On Sunday, Jose got his 26th multi-hit game and was the main cog in our 17-hit attack vs the rival Phils. He is leading the league in hits and stolen bases so far this year. After, Fred Wilpon's comments last week, that didn't seem to phase him one bit. In fact, it seemed to fuel his fire. Jose has also gotten the Most Mets hits through 52 games. I hope that we keep Mr. Electric because he has basically saved this team.

Money Talks

New York Mets record: 23-28

Current streak: L3 (lost 6 of last 7)

The New York Mets made a lot of changes during the offseason. Firing Manager Jerry Manuel and hiring Manager Terry Collins. Firing GM Omar Minaya and Hiring Sandy Alderson. But one thing they did not do was take care of the Wilpons. The Wilpons have gotten the Mets in a big money mess after being convicted of contributing in the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. Recently, a article in the New Yorker was posted that included Many Wilpon comments on Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, and David Wright. He said that Jose wants Carl Crawford money but hes had everything wrong with him. He said that Carlos Beltran was 65 to 70 percent of what he used to be and saying that David wright was not a superstar. Recently though the Mets sold a $200M dollar minority share to investment genuis David Einhorn. This could get them out of the money problems. But the season on the field for the Mets has been even more of a rollercoaster. We started out of the gates a lousy 5-13. but then bounced back and went 17-9 to make .500, or 22-22. Since then we've crashed and burned, going 1-6 in our last 7. In back-to-back games VS the Phils, we've had a 1-run lead in the 8th but then they eiether tied it or took the lead. Including Today's wild game in which we started out by using our speed by getting 5 stolen bases in the first 3 Innings. Pelfrey also had another fantastic May outing ruined by striking out 6 through 4 Innings (72 pitches). Jose Reyes (Mr. Electric) got a league leading 19th stolen base and 25th Multi-Hit game. Then we went to the Bullpen. OurBullpen has been stellar in May with the exception of our skid. It continued when our bullpen gave up 3 runs to seal the loss. Tommorrow's Matchup: Vance Worley VS Jonathan Niese at 1:10 PM.

Messy Mets

New York Mets Record: 60-61
Current Streak: L1
It All looked good for the New York Mets going into the bottom of the 7th Inning in Thursday night's game vs the Houston Astros. Pat Misch, who had only allowed one hit coming into the inning was on FIRE! But after 2 bloop hits by Angel Sanchez and Hunter Pence, things would only get worse from there from the already sloppy New York Mets. The Mets have only Scored 93 runs since the long gone All-Star break, the last in the majors. After Carlos' Lee's HR in that 7th inning,we kept it at 93 runs. The Astros would eventually win the the game off that One-Hit Wonder. My Moral of this post is that it seems that we cannot give our pitchers any run support. It's like when a team takes the lead from us,we basically allow them to steal that win from us. The Mets have probably had the most "Quality Starts" in the majors this year too. But our hitting is terrible.

Sunny Santana

New York Mets Record 57-57

Current Streak: W1
The New York Mets have been really struggling since the All-Star Break. And Francisco Rodriguez isn't helping the cause. K-Rod,as they call him,was in the Family Lounge after Wednesday night's loss vs the Colorado Rockies. K-Rod got in a argument with his girlfriend and his girlfriend's dad got into it with them. Reports say that K-Rod took his father in-law in a tunnel and beat his head against the the walls. His father in-law had to be taken to the hospital while Francisco was being put in handcuffs. But The Mets still had to play baseball. The Mets put their ace Johan Santana on the mound while the Rockies countered with Jason Hammel. Things were looking good early on. After Jose Reyes got on base and stole second, the Mets were in buisness. Angel Pagan sliced one just past Melvin Mora, which brough speedy Reyes into score. 1-0 Mets. After an Ike Davis Ground Rule Double, Carlos Beltran came up. Carlos then smacked one high to Left. Carlos Gonzalez caught it but could not get also speedy Angel Out at home. 2-0 Metros. Johan was pitching a gem ALL DAY. His fastball set up his changeup and his changeup set up his fastball. And the Mets were still giving him runs. In the 7th, after a Ruben Tejada walk and a Johan single, Jose came up. Jose smacked one into the hole which brought 20-year old rookie Ruben Tejada in. Then 22-year old rookie Fernando Martinez came up. Fernando hit one high to right. It had the same result as Carlos' did earlier. Sacrifice Fly. 4-0 Mets. Johan proved that we don't need a closer to win ballgames as he pitched a Complete game 4-hit shutout. Those are Some Stats to be proud of. Opinion: We finally win a series. Johan's touch is finally back. Are hitting just needs to be tweaked a little bit I think.

Road Madness

New York Mets Record: 54-55

Standings: 3rd in East, 6 behind Philadelphia,8 behind Atlanta
Current Streak: L1
The New York Mets were looking for the same Philadelphia Phillies they faced two months ago in Flushing. The Mets swept their division foe, allowing 0 runs in the whole series. But that was June. Over these past two months these teams have gone in very opposite directions. The Mets have dropped down to 3rd in the east, the Phillies have advanced to 2nd. Let's go down to Citizens Bank Park. Early in the first,Placido Polanco ripped one down the third base line for a double that scored the sore Raul Ibanez. 1-0 Phils. The Mets struck quickly back in the 3rd when Jose Reyes singled to center and Frenchy Scored.1-1 tied. then in the 4th,Rookie Josh Thole put one into the hole for another RBI Single.2-1 Metros. No One scored until the eighth, when the Mets Bullpen came into play. The First pitcher in the inning was Bobby Parnell. Here were Parnell stats for the game: 0.0 IP, 2 ER and 4 Hits allowed. 3-2 Phils. Then came sidearmer Pedro Feliciano. Feliciano: 0.1 IP 2 ER,1 BB,3 H allowed. 5-2 Phils the last pitcher was Manny Acosta. Acosta: 0.2 IP,2 ER,2 H allowed 7-2 Phils. A six-run eighth blew this game wide open. In the top of the 9th, Mike Hessman came up with two runners on. Hessman,32,has spent most of his career in the minors. But Mike has hit 229 homers in the minors,so he can drill it out. Hessman knocked one into left. Back. Back. WAY BACK THERE! GONE!!!!! Hessman First MAJOR LEAGUE HOMER! that made it 7-5. But Brad Lidge got Jesus Feliciano looking to end the game. Opinion: First taste in a long time of a losing record. we need to get some quality wins over this stretch and maybe we can make it. HR Meter: Hessman: (1(1))

Hudson's Hazeballs: Part 2

New York Mets Record: 53-53

Standings: 4th in NL East (1/2 game behind Florida)

Current Streak: L1
The New York Mets have had a up and down 2010. One Minute were winning games like a team and then another minute were getting swept by the Diamondbacks! Still hoping they can make it in the playoffs and save their managers job,The Mets haven't done anything to make that dream happen. Its like a vacuum swooped over Flushing and sucked all the life out of this team. With a six game road trip vs the Braves and the Phillies, the Mets need to win four out of six in this road swing. The pitchers duel was set. Johan Santana Vs Tim Hudson in the first game of the swing,But the Mets last outings with eiether one of these pitchers on the mound were not good ones. In Tim Hudson's Last start Vs the Mets,Tim looked like a 4-time Cy Young Award Winner and 2-time MVP. In Johan's last start,he gave up 6 runs in the first inning to the Cardinals,in a game which the Mets came back only to lose in extras. So this eiether redemption night for the Mets,or slaying time for the Braves. In The First,Johan was in another jam just like his last outing, and almost the same thing happened. he let up a Matt Diaz double to bring in All-Star Omar Infante. 1-0 Braves. Then newcomer Rick Ankiel came up for the Braves, smacked one through the hole to bring in two more runs. 3-0 Braves. In The 5th,Carlos Beltran came up. He looked like his old self smacking one into right field for a RBI double. 3-1 Braves. But In the 7th, Future Hall Of Famer Chipper Jones came up. Chipper knocked one into center. Back. Back. Back. GONE! Solo Shot for Chipper. 4-1 Braves. Billy Wagner and co. set down the Mets to win round two of "Hudson's Hazeballs". Opinion: WE NEED TO WIN FOUR OUT OF SIX IN THIS ROAD SPIN. If we don't then we are done. we just do this every stinken single year and its tiring. HR Meter: Jones: (8(434(T-37th on All-time List)))

Pitchy Pelfrey

New York Mets Record: 52-51

Current Streak: L1

Mike Pelfrey started the season on a roll. He had 9 wins,1 loss and was on pace for 20 or more wins. Since then It's gone all downhill for Pelfrey. he's been 1-5 since that amazing start, and he has let up early runs in the 1st Inning. He looked to change his fortunes vs The Arizona Diamondbacks. Although his last outings with the D-Backs wasn't so good. 12 days ago, When Pelf faced the D-Backs,he only pitched 1 and 1/3 innings, letting up 7 runs,6 of which were let up in the 1st inning. So Pelfrey was looking to REALLY change his fortunes. In the 1st inning, It was more early trouble as Adam Laroche singled to Left, scoring Kelly Johnson. 1-0 D-Backs. It didn't get better from here on out. What happened Next was Miguel Montero,Montero was coming off a really good night vs The Phillies, started it out the same way here. Montero also singled to left, scoring Justin Upton. 2-0 D-Backs Top 1st. Next Batter was Mark Reynolds,HE singled into SHALLOW left field, scoring the one who started the rally, Adam Laroche. 3-0 D-backs Top 1st. Pelf then stopped the bleeding with a flie out. after a Reyes single and Castillo single and Pagan Popout,David Wright came up. Wright has been swinging a cold bat lately, but showed some sparks in the last series vs the Cards, but still didn't get a Long bomb. Wright came up and smacked one into Left,a high drive going, going, over the big wall Gone! With one swing of the bat the Mets tied it up. 3-3 tied Bottom of 1st. In the 3rd Inning,Stephen Drew came up with Miguel Montero on 2nd, Drew doubled to Deep center field (you know how big Citi's Center field is!) And Montero scored from 2nd and scored. 4-3 D-Backs Top 3rd. In the Bottom half of the Inning, David Wright came up for his second time. Wright again made good contact with the ball and it went DEEP AND DEEP and finally fell next to the Apple for a 2-Run Shot. Wright's second of the game! 5-4 Mets Bot. 3rd. In the 6th, Kelly Johnson came up. Johnson smashed one to center like Wright did earlier. And it had the SAME EXACT RESULT. 2-Run Shot. 6-5 D-Backs Top 6th. Miguel Montero, who has already had a big day already, hit one to Right, it went high and long. going, going Frenchy looks up and watches it bounce off the Subway sign for a 3-Run Shot. 9-5 D-Backs Top 6th. In the 7th, trying to give the Mets some hope, Angel Pagan came up. he smacked one through the hole and brought Reyes around to score 9-6 D-Backs Bot. 7th. But Chad Qualls and other D-Back relievers shut down the Metros for the rest of the game. Final: 9-6 D-Backs. Opinion: If we wanna catch the Phils aand run away from the Fish, we need to start beating this last-place team. THEY HAVE 38 WINS! come on guys! we can't collapse! sstart doing what you did when you were 11 games over .500! PLEASE! WIN! HR Meter: Wright: (16,17(156,157)) Johnson: (17(62)) Montero: (4(35))
